The festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm and across all societies of New Chandigarh and special arrangements were made for the celebration in DLF society. Residents of the area participated in large numbers, making the event truly memorable and historic.
Decoration and Tableaux: The entire area was adorned like a bride with colorful lights, garlands of flowers, and stunning decorations. The main area showcased elaborate tableaux depicting the various childhood pastimes and significant episodes from the life of Lord Krishna. Each tableau vividly portrayed different aspects of Krishna’s life, such as lifting the Govardhan mountain, the Raas Leela, and the mischief of stealing butter, captivating the hearts of the devotees.
Bhajan, Kirtan, and Cultural Programs: The celebrations featured night-long bhajans, kirtans by devotees from ISKCON , and cultural programs, where children performed. The devotional singing, praising the glory of Lord Krishna, mesmerized the devotees. The dramas performed by children brought various episodes of Krishna life to life, adding a special charm to the event.
Midnight Celebration of Krishna’s Birth: At midnight, the moment of Lord Krishna’s birth, special prayers and rituals were held. The deity was bathed and offered special delicacies like butter and sugar candy. This sacred moment deeply moved the devotees, filling the atmosphere with divine energy.
Special Prasad and Bhandara: During the festivities, Prasad was arranged to all devotees, including butter and sugar candy, fruits, and sweets. Later in the night, a community feast (Bhandara Prasad) was organized, where hundreds of people from the area partook in the blessed meal.
Security and Management: To ensure the success of this grand event, the local administration and organizers worked together to manage the crowd and maintain smooth traffic flow. Guards and volunteers ensured safety throughout the program, allowing all devotees to enjoy the festivities without any inconvenience.
